Historically, heavy insider selling has marked the top on the stock market and heavy insider buying has marked the bottom. In other words, insiders have details retail investors do not. Insider selling continued to be heavy in the last seven days. This has been the theme for all of 2024. The only slowdown in selling has been during the blackout periods. Blackout periods occur before earnings. Insiders of a company reporting earnings are not allowed to buy or sell their stock.

In the next week, 50% of the companies in the S&P 500 will enter a blackout period. So insider selling should abate.
